Dhangardhi airport offline

KATHMANDU, 6 June 2019: Dhangadhi Airport’s closure for runway works has been extended through 11 June, Corporate Travel Management reports in its latest travel advisory.

Aviation officials reported that Dhangadhi Airport (DHI/VNDH) serving Dhangadhi in Kailali district would remain closed through 11 June to facilitate runway improvement works.

CTM warns travellers to “anticipate disruptions to flight schedules at Dhangadhi Airport.

Repairs are being carried out on the 1,800-metre runway and at the same time, airline-parking areas are being improved to accommodate up to four planes at a single time.

Other improvements to approach lights and communications are underway. The entire project will cost NPR220 million.

The airport is located 3 km from Dhangadhi City near the western tip of the country close to India and is being upgraded to turn it into Nepal’s fourth international airport.

The city is the gateway to Khaptad National Park known for its clusters of lakes. The best time to visit the areas is from March to May and October to November.
