SINGAPORE, 21 June 2019: CLIA will offer travel agents tips to grow cruise sales at the up-coming CruiseWorld Indonesia 25 June at the Pullman Jakarta hotel.
The single-day event, now in its second edition, will be hosted in Jakarta and open to just registered travel agents.
The cruise business is pitched as one of the fastest growing leisure travel segments globally with 4.24 million Asia cruise passengers in 2018, hitting a record high.
According to Cruise Lines International Association’s 2018 Asia Ocean Source Market Report, Indonesia saw almost 55% jump in passenger volume in 2018, which propelled it from the 10th to 8th ranked source market in Asia. Indonesian cruisers favour shorter cruises with an average duration of three to five-days and have one of the youngest average ages at 39 years, lower than Asia mean of 45.4 years.
“CLIA Asia’s mandate is to provide essential training, resources and support to travel agents in the region. Globally, we see that markets with a high number of cruise travellers have the most ‘cruise educated’ travel agents,” said CLIA Australasia & Asia managing director Joel Katz.
At the upcoming edition of CruiseWorld Indonesia, CLIA will have a session on “Increasing your Profit through Service”.
The seminar aims to educate trade partners with the finer techniques of selling cruise holidays.
“Indonesians are the second biggest source of visitors to Singapore. It is also one of the top source markets for cruising out of Singapore,” said, Singapore Tourism Board, area director Indonesia, Raymond Lim.
