JAKARTA, 31 May 2019: The world’s largest Buddhist temple is the venue for Indonesia’s Borobudur Marathon 2019, scheduled to take place 17 November in the Lumbini Park Complex, Borobudur, Magelang in central Java.
The organisers say the UNESCO World Heritage site attracts millions of tourists annually.
Indonesia’s leading newspaper, Kompas Daily, together with Central Java regional bank, Bank Jateng and Central Java Provincial Government return to organise the iconic run.
The theme of this year’s race is ‘Synergy and Harmony’, which draws inspiration from Javanese local culture that respects everyone by living side by side together in creating synergy and finding harmony.
Registration opened on 1 May and closes today, 31 May, at midnight Jakarta time. Runners can register at borobudurmarathon.com. The event is open to both Indonesian and international runners.
Runners can also register for Borobudur Marathon 2019 through official travel agents and Fast Runners Qualifying.
Fast Runners Qualifying allowed runners with qualified finish time to secure their slots at Borobudur Marathon 2019. The registration for Fast Runners Qualifying was closed 15 May with the result announced last week. However, interested runners can still apply online before the deadline later today 31 May.
