India: MICE business marches on

-

MUMBAI, 17 May 2019: Strong economic growth in India is driving impressive growth in events related tourism says Creative Travel.

Quoting a report by industry body FICCI, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) tourism in India is expected to grow at a much faster rate than in past years.

India is a late entrant in the segment with a little share on a global scale. Of the total 12,563 international meetings in a year, it hosts only 175 – or just 1.4% to rank 24th worldwide.

In 2018, MICE tourism earnings in India surpassed INR 25,000 crore (USD7,911,500,000) with an 8% growth year-on-year, according to the report titled ‘India Inbound Tourism: Unlocking the Opportunity’.

Creative Travel, established in 1977, is a leading travel firm that has pioneered the inbound MICE business for India.

The company that specialises in travel to India Nepal Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Maldives confirmed this week it has been nominated for the prestigious World Travel Awards for the ninth year running in two categories in destination marketing and luxury travel segments.
