AirAsia adds a new Phuket Jakarta route

-

PHUKET, 9 May 2019: AirAsia continues to expand its network from Phuket to Jakarta, adding a three weekly service effective 2 July.

Big Members get a head’s start on bookings for the new service with deals that are valid until 12 May for travel from 2 July to 29 October. The lead-in fare on the new route is THB1,450 one-way.

AirAsia Thailand CEO Santisuk Klongchaiya said: “The airline has devoted great importance to the network. Phuket is a destination with high tourism potential and is popular among both Thai and foreign travellers. The addition of a direct flight from Phuket to Jakarta will be another way for tourists to reach Indonesia and other destinations.”

Jakarta is the largest capital city in Southeast Asia and the main commercial hub of the region’s most popular nation, which is predominantly Muslim.

The launch fare between Jakarta and Phuket ((THB2,900 roundtrip) is cheaper than the roundtrip domestic fare on the Jakarta-Bali route (THB4,195). Given Phuket ‘s room rates are cheaper than rates quoted by the same grade properties in Bali, Phuket becomes a very competitive holiday destination for urban dwellers in busy, traffic grid-locked Jakarta.

Thai AirAsia operates 10 international flights from Phuket; Phuket-Wuhan, Phuket-Kunming, Phuket-Hong Kong, Phuket-Macau, Phuket-Siem Reap, Phuket-Singapore, Phuket-Kuala Lumpur (Code AK), Phuket-Penang (Code AK), Phuket-Phnom Penh and now Phuket -Jakarta.
