TAT hosts travel agency trips

-

BANGKOK, 10 April 2019: The Tourism Authority of Thailand hosted 64 travel agents from Southeast Asia, South Asia and the South Pacific on familiarisation trips to destinations in the south and north of the country.

The escorted trips took place from 4 to 7 April visiting Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son, Sukhothai, Buri Ram, Udon Thani, Trat, Chanthaburi, Samut Songkhram, Ranong and Satun.

TAT deputy governor for international marketing, Asia and South Pacific Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhaya, said: “TAT positions Thailand as a preferred destination, with one of the key focuses being sustainable tourism. At the same time, we want to stimulate the economy of the rural areas by promoting 55 emerging destinations.

“This ‘Experience New Variety and Family Fun in Amazing Thailand 2019’ fam trip is among a host of activities that we will roll out to promote Thailand’s new potential products.”

The trips covered 10 provinces but the visits to North Thailand were marred by smog that covered Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Song with the air quality index reaching counts as high as 300 to 400. The fam trips visited Chiang Rai when the AQI was over 200 in city authorities advised people to stay indoors.

The fam trips flew in agents from Australia, Brunei, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and Vietnam.
