Dig deep for Banyan Tree treat

-

SAMUI, Thailand, 5 April 2019: Twenty-five years after Banyan Tree Holdings first took root in Southeast Asia, Banyan Tree Samui is marking the milestone with a 25% discount on just about everything with a price tag at the five-star hotel.

The deal extends to room rates on its villas, food & beverage, spa facilities and on-site shopping.

The promotion is based on a minimum of two nights for stays up to 19 December.

Banyan Tree Samui has 88 villas, each with a private infinity pool, on a hillside site on the popular Gulf of Thailand island.

Other giveaways in the 25th anniversary package include daily breakfast for two, a set dinner at the hotel’s Thai restaurant, a single sitting for afternoon tea, a bottle of wine delivered to your villa and a one-way airport transfer.

There’s an invitation in the promotion to check out the 25th anniversary package on the hotel’s website.

We followed the link. Based on the two-night minimum stay the resort quotes a price of THB62,476.52 including service, VAT and a provincial tax applicable on Samui island for a partial ocean view pool villa.

The 25% discount is deducted from the best available room rate that the resort offers online. A check of the website suggested that benchmark stood at around THB85,000 for two nights.

Before you shell out the holiday cash, we checked Agoda for a two-night stay in one of the resort’s deluxe pool villas and anniversary aside we could have booked two nights including the tax and service for THB36,629.14.

We would have missed out on the bottle of wine, airport transfer and set dinner and afternoon tea. The website has two references under its package offers for so-called anniversary deals to add an element of confusion to the search.
