PATTAYA, 7 March 2019: Mention Pattaya and the first thing that comes to mind will be the intense nightlife with partying and drinking. It’s only half-truth because this town has transformed in the last few years and you will be spoilt for choice on the activities you can engage in.

Check out these eight activities picked out for you that will inspire your next holiday.

1. Explore Koh Larn (Coral Island)

15 minutes away by speedboat, the beaches on Koh Larn (also known as Coral Island) is a great day trip you can make from Pattaya. Relax and get away from the busyness of Pattaya town and just chill on one of the six white-sand beaches on the island. There are many water sports activities from parasailing, banana boating to snorkelling that you can take part in.

If you’re into snorkelling, it will be a good idea to opt for an island hopping expedition to visit a bunch of small islands near Koh Larn. Swim around coral fishes and be mesmerised by the colourful coral reefs.

2. Soak in the views from Khao Laem Pu Chao Viewpoint

For nature, scenic lovers, the Khao Laem Pu Chao viewpoint is worth a visit. You can drive, bike or hike up to the viewpoint and be mesmerised by a 360-degree panorama of the bays and surrounding area. It is especially stunning during sunset, so do take your beloved there for a romantic time.

While there, do visit the Prince of Chumphon Shrine, which is a sacred place where Thais pay respect to him for his contribution to the modern-day Thai Royal Navy. There is also a museum exhibiting the admiral’s biography and items he used during his command of the navy. Open daily 0600 to 1800.

Enjoy a 360-degree panorama view of the bays and surrounding area from the Khao Laem Pu Chao viewpoint.

3. Relax in the peaceful atmosphere at Buddha Mountain (Khao Chi Chan)

There are a handful of temples and spiritual sites in Pattaya worth visiting, including Khao Chi Chan, or more commonly known as Buddha Mountain. This iconic landmark has a golden Buddha image over 130 metres high laser carved into the face of a mountain cliff. This is the largest carved Buddha image in the world.

You can take a stroll at the park surrounding the mountain, filled with lush greenery and flower. It is also a perfect spot to spend the morning or afternoon for a picnic. Alternatively, this is also a great stopover on your way to Silverlake Vineyard.

4. Learn about winemaking at Silverlake Vineyard Pattaya

This Tuscan style winery is not just a vineyard but also an entertainment spot worth spending a day exploring. Sitting on a sprawling 480-acre site in the shadow of the Big Buddha Mountain with a large lake at the heart of the site, it is a breathtaking backdrop of beauty and nature.

Explore the place on foot or join their Tram Ride Tours that depart regularly from the wine tasting room. For the wine enthusiast, you can also join the Vineyard and Winery Tours to learn about the winemaking process.

Apart from the vineyard, you can also purchase homemade produce like jams and spreads or have a meal at their restaurant that offers Thai and Italian cuisine. For music lovers out there, be sure to check out upcoming performances that a periodically held there.

5. Enjoy a theatrical experience at the KAAN Show

6. Admire the beauty of Pattaya City from Pratumnak Hill

Touted as the best viewpoint overlooking Pattaya Bay, you should check out this spot and chill over drinks from the top of Pattaya while admiring the beauty of Pattaya City.

You can reach the hilltop either by car, local taxi (Songtaew), bicycle or walk (although not recommended!). There are a few restaurants that provide refreshments that are open until evening. Enjoy the sea view and chill!

7. Catch the sunset at The Sky Gallery

The Sky Gallery sits atop Pratumnak Hill – the best viewpoint overlooking Pattaya Bay. This family-run restaurant is truly a sanctuary and it’s a great spot to catch the sunset while enjoying your meal.

Besides the patio seating, there is also an open garden with plush sofas, which offers a picnic-like experience. Serving international and Thai dishes, there’s definitely something for everyone’s palette.
