Mekong Tourism on show at ITB

-

BANGKOK, 4 March, 2018: Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office and PATA will jointly hosts a Mekong Tourism Forum at ITB Berlin, 6 March.

Now in its third year, the 2019 Mekong Tourism Forum at ITB Berlin (MTF@ITB) will present the MTCO’s highly successful social media campaigns.

Presentations will also be made by BBC Worldwide, GLP Films, Lonely Planet and PATA to collectively showcase how visual storytelling and film can create awareness for destinations in the Mekong Region without it costing a cent.

MTCO prides itself for delivering high impact awareness campaigns initiated and executed without a budget

“We love the way a video can give new life to our most extraordinary Mekong memories, but visual storytelling can also effect change to have us become more conscious travellers,” said MTCO executive director Jens Thraenhart.

“It’s the reason why we started our Mekong Mini Movie Festival — to celebrate those inspiring Mekong moments. We appreciate our partnership with ITB as well as PATA to give us a platform to further our mandate to drive sustainable and inclusive tourism in the Greater Mekong Subregion,” he concluded.

Commenting on a core MTCO project The Mekong Mini Movie Festival,” PATA CEO, Mario Hardy, called it a “brilliant initiative to help feature the Mekong region as its best.”

He added: “People who are passionate about the Mekong can share their personal experiences and inspire others to come and discover this beautiful region.”

In 2018, PATA, along with the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) and the UNWTO, recognised Mekong Tourism for its digital marketing excellence displayed in its destination social media platform Mekong Moments that hosted the 2018 Mekong Mini Movie Festival.

The contest campaign resulted in over 500 video submissions, which collectively earned a claimed viewership of over 7 million people globally.

MTCO will air a small selection of the winning films from the 2018 mini movie festival in addition to officially announcing its 2019 festival plans.

The 2019 Mekong Tourism Forum will convene 1550 to 1545, 6 March, at the Cube Club/City Cube in Berlin.
