Jet Airways stops flights to Abu Dhabi

-

ABU DHABI, 19 March 2019: Jet Airways suspended all operations to and from Abu Dhabi International Airport on Monday.

This includes services that connect with Etihad Airways flights to Europe, based on a codeshare agreement between the two airlines.

Airport officials reported that Indian airline Jet Airways grounded its operations at Abu Dhabi International Airport indefinitely due to operational difficulties.

Transit flights will also be affected by the suspension.

Travellers are advised they could face disruptions to Jet Airways flights at Abu Dhabi airport until further notice. They should contact airline representatives for updates.

India’s private airline Jet Airways confirmed Monday that it also cut back flights to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates until the end of March according to a report in Xinhua quoting Etihad Airport Services on Monday.

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad owns 24% stake in Jet Airways and its fund infusion to revive the Indian airline is at a critical discussion stage.

According to the statement from Etihad Airport Services, the airline cancelled all its flights from Monday for operational reasons. It has also stopped Delhi-Dubai flights.

The move may affect transit passengers of transferring to Etihad services and heading for Europe, Africa and North America.

Three years ago, the combined networks of Etihad and Jet Airways offered 250 weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and 15 cities across India. However, this has dropped in the past few months.
