Helping hand for Sabah

-

KOTA KINABALU: 21 March 2019 – Diethelm Travel Group, announced Wednesday that its Malaysia office has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Sabah Tourism Board to increase joint marketing and promotions to position Sabah in Malaysian Borneo as a leading tourism destination in European markets.

With 30 years of experience operating in Sabah, Diethelm Travel Malaysia, and its Kota Kinabalu branch, in particular, will support Sabah Tourism Board in showcasing Sabah as a preferred “Truly Asia” destination to its European partners.

Sabah will provide incentives, support for promotions based on the tour operator sourcing and supplying new business.

The objective is to encourage new and repeat visitors and ensure successful, sustainable growth for the sector. New Sabah tours and excursions are also under development and will be available soon through the travel firm’s marketing channels.

Managing Director of Diethelm Travel Malaysia Manfred Kurz and Sabah’s deputy chief minister and minister of tourism, culture and environment, Datuk Christina Liew, signed the agreement during ITB Berlin 2019 earlier this month.

“Malaysia is an extraordinarily ethnically, culturally and geographically diverse country and nowhere is this truer than Sabah,” said Kurz. “The stunning region offers a plethora of unique experiences for both first-time and returning travellers, and we see incredible potential for further introducing Sabah to the European market. Between Sabah Tourism Board’s wealth of unique experiences and our vast network and direct marketing capabilities, we’re looking forward to inspiring a new wave of travellers to discover this magical destination.”
