Bali top for spot for January visits

-

JAKARTA, 7 March 2019: Indonesia’s tourist arrivals during January reached 1.16 million with a year-on-year increase of 5,22%, according to latest data from the national statistics bureau.

Officials confirmed that China supplied the largest volume during January, a trend that is replicated in most Southeast Asian nations.

Of all the country’s tourist destinations, Bali Island received the highest volume of arrivals growing 15.23% to reach 743,349 year-on-year.

China led the supply list followed by Malaysia, Timor Leste, Singapore and Australia, as the top supply markets, a trend that was already evident last year.

Indonesia reported a 12.58% growth to record 15.81 million tourist arrivals in 2018, well short of its ambitious 17 million target. An even more ambitious target of 20 million was muted for 2020 that now appears to be beyond reach.
