Nok Air builds Chiang Mai hub

-

CHIANG MAI, 25 February 2019: Nok Air will expand its presence in this gateway city in North Thailand with a new service to Ubon Ratchathani in the country’s northeast region.

The airline will offer direct services between key Thai cities ending the need to fly via the Thai capital that adds costs and often doubles the travel time.

The new service is the first airline link between the two cities after AirAsia ended its direct flights last year.

The fare quoted by Skyscanner on the new Nok Air direct flight is around USD110 compared with USD144 if the passenger travels via Bangkok. The direct flight takes one hour and 55 minutes compared with five to six hours if connecting with a service in Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport.

The route will be served by four weekly flights using the 70-seat ATR72 aircraft, starting 31 March.

Direct flights will operate between the two cities on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

  1. Hope Nok Air will start a Chiang Mai to Hua Hin flight as none now exist following the demise of Kan Air.
