Sichuan expands Myanmar flights

-

YANGON, 15 January 2019: Sichuan Airlines launched direct flights at the weekend from Chongqing in China to Mandalay, Myanmar’s second largest city.

With a flight time of two hours and 30 minutes the service operates Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Technically, the service is a scheduled charter as all the seats are pre-sold to Chinese tour operators promoting Myanmar tour packages.  There are no local ticket sales in Mandalay for the flight to Chongqing.

The airline offers three flights weekly using an A320 with 180 seats.

The airline also serves Mandalay with four-weekly direct flights from Kunming the capital of Yunnan province, China. The service was established in February 2018.

Last December, the airline introduced a direct flight between Hangzhou, capital of east China’s Zhejiang province and Yangon in Myanmar.

In November 2018, it introduced a direct service to Yangon from Xi’an, capital of northwest China’s Shaanxi province.

Sichuan Airlines is the largest all-Airbus-fleet carrier in China and operates flights to over 270 domestic and international routes.

More than 10 flights daily operate between Myanmar and China.
