Scammers prey on Lion Air

-

Kolkata, India, 15 January 2019: Lion Air Group issued a scam alert, Monday, stating scammers were fraudulently claiming the airline was seeking staff in India through a walk-in interview project.

The airline does not fly to India.

Lion Air said the scammers were using the brand without authorisation, in order to lure the public to participate in a scheme advertised in a leading Indian newspaper.

The scammer circulated a recruitment notice last week, about a walk-in interview scheduled for a venue in Kolkata. Applicants were told they would need to provide an advance security deposit of INR30000 to INR50000.

The Lion Air Group said it strongly advises the public to disregard such scams noting it does not operate in India, and Lion Group Airline does not engage external agents for recruitment or charge for job interviews.

All official announcements of Lion Air Group are made via the relevant airline’s official channels and credible mass media, the statement read.

Lion Air Group said it would take legal action against individuals or groups who organise illegal schemes using the Lion Air brand.
