HopOn India launches city apps

-

NEW DELHI, 11 January 2019: HopOn India, an audio tour App launched by Desiwalks Tours, launched its Delhi tours, earlier this week.

With a Jaipur tour also planned, HopOn India will be present in five cities including Mumbai, Varanasi and Kolkata.

In Delhi it offers three app-guided walks that highlight the Humayun Tomb, the Chandni Chowk food experience and an upcoming tour of the Qutab Minar enclave.

The Humayun Tomb walk, which is now live on the App, tells the story of the ‘Unlucky Emperor’, as the listener enjoys the grandeur of India’s first Persian style tomb and garden beautifully restored by the Aga Khan Foundation.

The second walking tour covers Chandni Chowk and will appeal to gastronomes as the HopOn India app takes the tourist to the best vegetarian dining spots of the area.

Listeners will get to taste the jalebis, the khurchan, the parathas, the bedmis et al. Written and narrated by well known food critic Rahul Verma, the walk covers all the ‘hole in the wall’ joints that make the food of Chandni Chowk what it is.

The app also gives visitors an opportunity to listen to nuggets of information about the upcoming Qutab Minar walk.

It is believed Delhi got its name from the Hindi word ‘Dhili’ or loose. Legend has it that a Rajput ruler tried to uproot the Iron Pillar, built in 4th century at the Qutab Minar much against the consensus that it would bring misfortune. When the rule of the King floundered, citizens lamented ‘Kili to dhili bhai’ or the nail has been loosened.

HopOn India will also launch a Jaipur Pink City walk soon. Jaipur was painted pink to welcome the Prince of Wales in 1876. This gesture reflects the generous welcome that the city offers to all visitors.

From the city’s royal palace, to the scientifically built Jantar Mantar, to the intriguing Hawa Mahal, the pink city walk captures the grandeur of royalty that this part of the country is known for.

It not only includes the walk through the cacophonic but also features the colourful bazaars of Jaipur.

The tour covers Johri Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar. The listeners will get to taste the authentic food of Rajasthan even as they bargain with the shopkeepers. One can learn how to tie the turban, apply henna on the palms and buy the wooden dolls called kathputlis as a souvenir.

HopOn India is participating in SATTE 2019 to be held 16 to 18 January at the India Expo Centre (IEML), Greater Noida, Delhi NCR.

Desiwalks Tours is a Mumbai-based startup that developed the audio tour App – HopOn India. The Company is recognised as a startup under the Government of India’s Start Up India initiative. The App, in a way, marries Digital India with Incredible India by providing digitally powered immersive experiences of places. It covers history, food, culture, myth and much more.

The App is now live for the cities of Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi and Banaras. Jaipur will be live soon too.
