Festive season boom for Thai airports

BANGKOK, 4 January 2019: Airports of Thailand estimated that 3.18 million passengers used its airports during the New Year holiday.

Provisional data from 27 December 2018 to 2 January 2019 suggested passenger traffic at the six airports AOT manages reached 3.18 million up by 11.8%.

Over the period there were 18,300 flights, an increase of 12.6% compared to the same period last year.

The data was collected at six airports, namely Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang in Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Chiang Rai.

On average there were 2,610 flights daily over the festive season up 12.6% compared to the same period of last year and an estimated 217,000 passengers daily, or an increase of 15.3%.
