TAT: Discounts for visiting neighbours

BANGKOK, 19 December 2018: Thailand’s year-end Amazing Thailand Grand Sale promotion with a ‘Passport Privileges’ twist gets underway. to boost festive season travel.

Established by the Tourism Authority of Thailand to encourage visits from short-haul markets, the sale offers both discounts and privileges on a wide range of popular services and goods.

Participating venues include department stores, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, spas and various shops.  The deals are exclusively for tourists from Thailand’s neighbouring countries.

Commenting on the campaign, TAT governor, Yuthasak Supasorn, said the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale ‘Passport Privileges’ promotes Thailand as a shopping, medical and leisure destination for tourists from ASEAN, East Asia and South Asia.

“TAT has been working with partners both in the public and private sectors to offer ‘Passport Privileges’ to tourists. The new initiative (continues until) 15 January 2019,” he explained.

‘Passport Privileges’ are on offer in popular destinations including Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai and in emerging destinations such as Tak, Surin, Nong Khai and Udon Thani.

They compliment other ‘existing promotions that are valid for visitors to Thailand simply by presenting their passports when shopping, or using services at participating venues identified in the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale campaign.

In addition, in Mae Sot and Tak a ‘Shopping & Dining’ promotion is underway for local shoppers with double privileges.

The privileges kick-in when they spend a minimum of THB500 at participating stores. The receipts can be redeemed to win special prizes including motorcycles, LED TVs, gold necklaces and other prizes.

In Nong Khai and Udon Thani. TAT is hosting the appearance of super star, Nadech Kugimiya at the annual Nong Khai ASEAN Marathon 2018 and an exclusive welcome ‘Meet & Greet’ party for Lao tourists. Lao tourists who spend up to THB1,000 in Nong Khai and Udon Thani, will be eligible to join Nadech’s ‘Meet & Greet party’ or run with him in the marathon.
