DANANG, 21 December 2018: The first Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Danang, Vietnam, touched down 20 December at Danang International Airport.
The flight was welcomed by tourism officials, traditional Vietnamese dancers and a celebratory water canon salute for what is the first ever direct flight linking Qatar and the coastal city in central Vietnam.
Initially, the airline will offer a four-weekly service using its Boeing B787 Dreamliner aircraft.
Danang is the third Vietnamese city after Hanoi the Vietnamese capital and the commercial hub of Ho Chi Minh City in the south both served by daily flights.
Danang International Airport is the third busiest airport in Vietnam and is an important transportation hub in the central region, just 2 km from the city centre.
The destination, is known for its sandy beaches, golf courses and an eventful history as a French colonial port. It is also the gateway to UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the cultural village of Hoi An, south of the city and to the north the Imperial Citadel of Hue, a former royal capital.
