HO CHI MINH CITY, 14 December 2018: Local tourism officials celebrated the arrival of the city’s 7 millionth visitor, earlier this week, claiming promotions are successfully presenting the city as an attractive and safe destination.
The 7 millionth visitor, Tissot Jean Claude, arrived at Ho Chi Minh City on a Vietnam Airlines flight from Paris according to a report by the official Vietnam News Agency.
Welcoming the milestone is among various events marking the 320th anniversary of the founding of Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon. On the sidelines of the welcome ceremony the southern city launched a tourism promotion programme for the city’s anniversary and introduced eight signature tours that focus on the historical values of Ho Chi Minh City.
Buoyed by the city’s tourism success, local officials said the objective now was to extend length of stay and increase tourist spending.
