Kuching hosts New Year countdown

KUCHING, 20 December 2018: Kuching Waterfront will be the venue for the city’s Year Countdown celebration and the official launch of the Visit Sarawak Campaign, 31 December.

In its latest edition of its Hornbill Trail newsletter, distributed to the travel trade, worldwide, Sarawak Tourism Board said the city would be illuminated by firework displays over the town’s famous waterfront promenade.

Officiating at the spectacle will be Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Abang Haji Openg and Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

Meanwhile the “Visit Sarawak Campaign” Logo Launch was successfully hosted in Shenzhen, China, 19 December, at a travel industry party and media briefing at the JW Marriott Shenzhen.

The launch ceremony, for the China market, was attended by Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Lee Kim Shin, representatives of the Consul General of Malaysia in Guangzhou, Beh Ching Chye and the Director of Tourism Malaysia Guangzhou, Sharon Ho.

During the launch, the campaign’s colourful logo, tagline of “More to Discover” as well as a promotional video were presented to guests and local travel trade representatives.

It was the fourth launch held by STB for the new campaign following events in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and London.
