Indonesia: Top notch travel brands

-

JAKARTA, 13 December 2018: Indonesia’s top tourism and hospitality players were honoured at the 2018 Indonesia Travel and Tourism Awards, 10 December.

Now in its 9th edition the annual awards recognised 74 organisations selected by an online voting that closed 16 November.

Around 250 organisers were nominated for categories that spanned the best airlines, hotels and drilled down to what voters thought was the best hotel for a breakfast, a resort with the best sunset or top retreat for a honeymoon.Award categories included hotels, resorts, villas, serviced apartments, travel agents, tour operators, amusement parks, airlines, airports, tourism boards and destinations.

Hotels dominated the winners’ list with Raffles Jakarta taking home the top award as the country’s leading luxury hotel.

Swiss-Belhotel snatched up six awards, but the most notable recognised the group as Indonesia’s leading global hotel chain.

On the dining side of the awards the leading spot for breakfast went to Hotel Royal Ambarrukmo in Yogyakarta.

Kayon Jungle Resort was cited as the leading honeymoon resort, while Bali Tejaprana Resort & Spa was named Indonesia’s leading romantic resort.

As for the best spot for a sunset Bali’s Lv8 Resort Hotel won that distinction according voters.

Airlines figured high on the awards list with Singapore’s SilkAir named Indonesia’s leading regional airline. The award for the top international airline serving Indonesia went to Etihad. The low-cost airline award was handed to local player Citilink.

Voters gave the top ASEAN airline award to Malaysia Airlines, while Oman Air was honoured for making the biggest improvements.

No surprises the Airline Of The Year award was bestowed on Garuda Indonesia. Call it politically correct voting.

Travel firms winners included: DSL Travel as the top international ticketing wholesaler; Patuna Tours top of the Hajj and Umrah travel agents’ category and Panorama JTB Tours named leading outbound tour operator.
