Dusit soft opens two hotels

BANGKOK, 20 December 2018 – Dusit International has soft opened two new resorts one in Krabi, Thailand and the other in Thimphu, Bhutan.

Opened on 15 December, the 173-room dusitD2 Ao Nang, Krabi is located at an off-beach location, but within walking distance to the shore.

Opened on 19 December, the 83-room dusitD2 Yarkay Thimphu, Bhutan is billed as the first internationally branded hotel in the country.

Special opening offers at both properties include 40% off the Dusit Best Available Rate, daily breakfast and a dining discount.

A check of the group’s website shows the 40% off rate, excluding service and tax, is pegged at USD194 a night at the Thimphu property. Once the USD20 service and USD20 in tax are added the discounted rate totals USD232 a night. It is not yet featured on regional online travel booking sites.

Checking online travel agency rates, the dustD2 Ao Nang’s best offer this month is USD125 a night through Booking.com, or USD155 when taxes and service fees are included.

On the Dusit website a direct booking gives you the best offer starting at USD112, excluding tax and service. The rate increases to USD132 a night when a USD9 service and USD9 tax are added, still lower than the Booking.com best offer.

Meanwhile, the group’s flagship hotel, Dusit Thani, located in the heart of Bangkok’s Silom Road’s business and tourist district will close after the New Year to make way for a new mixed-use development.  The landmark property dating back to the early 1970s will be entirely demolished.

The planned mixed use project will comprise of residences, an office building, retail areas, and a new Dusit Thani Bangkok hotel due to open in 2023.
