BANGKOK, 23 November 2018: Thai AirAsia will launch a direct flight in December from U-tapao, an airport just south of Pattaya, to Khon Kaen a commercial city in the heart of northeast Thailand.
Advanced timetable information from Airlineroute shows the Thailand-based low-cost airline launching four weekly flights effective 21 December.
Using an Airbus A320 flights will depart Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from U-tapao at 0700 arriving in Khon Kaen at 0800.
The return flight will depart Khon Kaen at 0825 and arrive in U-tapao at 0925.
Thailand Incentives and Exhibitions Bureau has named Khon Kaen an emerging meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) city particularly for domestic events.
Located in the heart of northeast Thailand on the main highway and rail track linking Thailand with Laos in the north, the city is an important commercial, agricultural and educational hub.
It already attracts domestic events and conferences mainly linked to government and education.
However, TCEB successfully gained the attention of the Pacific Asia Travel Association, which will host the PATA Destination Marketing Forum 2018 (PDMF 2018) 28 to 30 November in Khon Kaen.
The event, formerly known as the PATA New Tourism Frontiers Forum, has a conference theme “Growth with Goals” and will be hosted by TCEB and the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
