HO CHI MINH CITY, 23 November 2018: Vietnam Airlines will start a new daily service, effective 1 December, linking the central region city of Danang with Can Tho, a city at the southern tip of Vietnam’s Mekong Delta.
Standing on the southern bank of the Hau River, Can Tho is a popular travel gateway for tours that explore the canal network in the Mekong Delta and nearby floating markets.
One of its main landmarks attracting selfie-photo fans is the 2.75-km cable-stayed Can Tho Bridge that spans the river.
Meanwhile, in the evenings travellers gravitate to the busy Ninh Kieu waterfront the main hub for boat trips on surrounding waterways, which are illuminated at night.
Can Tho’s waterfront is home to floating restaurants, bars and hotels and is an important port of call for luxury river boat cruises that go up the Mekong River to Phnom Penh the capital of Cambodia.
The new Danang – Can Tho route, starting 1 December, will use an Airbus A321 aircraft for the daily service.
The flight will depart Danang at 0610 and arrive in Can Tho at 0740 The return flight will depart Can Tho at 0820 and arrive in Danang at 0950, according to Airlineroute timetable information.
The route will interest tour operators who package tours to Danang the gateway city for trips to Hue the site of the World Heritage Imperial Citadel and Hoi An a coastal world heritage town south of Danang.
From Danang groups could then continue their tour to Can Tho to explore the Mekong Delta region, which is gaining popularity with international tourists who have already visited Ho Chi Minh City.
