Memories expands presence in Myanmar

-

MAWLAMYAING, Myanmar 15 November 2018: The 72-room Hotel Suggati officially opens 15 December in Mawlamyaing, the capital of Myanmar’s Mon State.

Located next to the Salween River, the waterfront property will be positioned as a three-star hotel for business and leisure travellers heading for the country’s fourth largest city.

There is not much competition in the city at the upper end of the star market with the 10 most popular hotels, mostly below three-stars, offering rates between USD30 to 50 a night.

The five-floor Suggati, owned by the Memories Group, has named Leila Nortier as its general manager.

A French national, Nortier has worked for three years at another Memories resort in nearby Hpa-an. Nortier has also worked for Four Seasons in Geneva, St. Regis Singapore and Atlantis Hotel in Dubai.

Suites at Hotel Suggati start at USD120 per night from 15 December through to May 2019.

Popular booking site, Hotels.com quotes a rate of USD110 and Wotif.com slightly less at 109.52. Expedia.com offers a rate at USD109 including tax and service. The top 10 most popular hotels in Suggati quote rates of less than USD50.

Memories Group is a destination management company operating several resorts and hot-air balloon trips in Myanmar.
