-

KUALA LUMPUR, 12 November 2018: AirAsia X will cut its service, 9 February, 2019, to Auckland now served daily with a stop in the Gold Coast, Australia.

According to Airlineroute’s flight schedule information AirAsia X closed reservations last week for its service to Auckland on or after 9 February.

Established in 2016, the airline currently flies the route Kuala Lumpur- Gold Coast (OOL code) – Auckland daily, but will reduce frequency to four weekly flights during the last week of January and then suspend the Auckland sector entirely by the first week of February.

AirAsia X will continue to operate a daily service using an Airbus A330s on the route Kuala Lumpur (KUL)-Gold Coast (OOL).

The flight departs Kuala Lumpur at 2355 and arrives in the Gold Coat at 1015 on the following morning. Effective 9 February the flight will terminate at the Gold Coast airport. The return flight will depart the Gold Coast at 1125 and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 1750.

In New Zealand, online news service, News Hub, reported around 2000 New Zealand residents would have to seek refunds that were promised by the airline among other options such as taking a credit to book other AirAsiaX flights.

It quoted an AirAsiaX source saying the suspension was due to a “periodic review aimed at improving operational efficiency.”
