AirAsia opens Singapore-Ipoh route

-

SINGAPORE, 30 October 2018: AirAsia will launch a Singapore-Ipoh service, 2 December, the first international route to Malaysia’s ‘Bougainvillea City’.

The four-weekly direct flights to Ipoh will mark AirAsia’s 16th route out of its Singapore hub.

AirAsia Malaysia CEO Riad Asmat said: “This new international route reiterates our commitment to further expand air connectivity to Ipoh, while strengthening our Singapore network, and we are positive it will contribute more visitors from Malaysia to Singapore and vice versa.”

AirAsia is offering special promotional inclusive fares from SGD48 on the Singapore-Ipoh route available on airasia.com and the AirAsia mobile app until 10 November for travel from 2 December 2018 to 30 March 2019. The one-way fare, inclusive of taxes and fees, is valid for AirAsia BIG members only.

Ipoh located in northwest Malaysia is best known as the gateway to the Cameron Highlands, a popular cool climate hill station established during the pre WW II colonial era. But its prosperity comes from its long history as a tin mining centre evident today in the former Hakka Miners’ Club and the Han Chin Pet Soo museum that majors on the tin-mining industry and the role of Ipoh’s Hakka community.

After the tin mines closed, the former British colonial city has blossomed into a beautiful cityscape recognised as a foodie destination particularly for Singaporeans who love to explore its street food outlets.
