AirAsia flies to Phu Quoc

-

PHU QUOC, 5 November 2018: AirAsia became the first airline to connect Malaysia to Phu Quoc island in Vietnam following the inaugural flight from Kuala Lumpur last Friday.

AirAsia Flight AK545, using an Airbus A320, departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) at 1250 with a 90% passenger load factor and arrived at Phu Quoc International Airport at 1335.

Guests on board were greeted by Phu Quoc People’s Committee vice chairman, Pham Van Nghiep.

AirAsia Malaysia CEO Riad Asmat said, “We’re proud to be the first airline to connect Malaysia to Phu Quoc. It is encouraging to see how well the destination has been received and we hope this direct service, in tandem with Phu Quoc’s visa-free policy, will accelerate international arrivals to the island and boost tourism receipts.”

AirAsia flies from Kuala Lumpur to Phu Quoc four times weekly. Passengers flying from elsewhere in AirAsia’s extensive network – including China, India, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Thailand and Singapore – can also connect seamlessly to Phu Quoc using the Fly-Thru transit service via Kuala Lumpur.

Travellers from any country may visit Phu Quoc visa-free for up to 30 days as long as they do not travel to the mainland.

Phu Quoc is AirAsia Malaysia’s fifth route into Vietnam. Besides Phu Quoc, AirAsia also flies to four other destinations in Vietnam – Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Hanoi and Nha Trang.
