Danang lines up 2019 cruises

-

DANANG, 26 October 2018: Danang Tourism Department attended the annual Seatrade Cruise Asia Pacific, 23 to 25 October, in Shanghai China, to underscore the city’s improved cruise facilities.

In 2019, Danang will be a port of call for Costa Cruises, and Genting Cruise Lines as well as cruises related to itineraries organised by Shanghai China Youth Travel Services and Shanghai Jingjiang.

But the delegation attending Seatrade Cruise Asia Pacific believes attendance at the cruise exhibition will bring in more cruise lines in the long run.

Around 1,000 delegates linked to the cruise business from 34 countries, as well as 193 representatives from more than 20 cruise lines attended the event.

The delegation introduced new facilities at the Danang port and cruise tour packages.

Indochina Unique Tourist director, Nguyen Son Thuy, who attended the show, said response from cruise operators was positive.

“There is strong potential for cruise tourism development, especially when the central government approves the proposal to separate Tien Sa Port from the rest of the port facilities to turn it into a dedicated cruise port in the future, which will create an opportunity for Danang to welcome many large cruise ships.”

In the first nine months of 2018, Danang welcomed 75 cruise ships docking at Tien Sa Port, bringing nearly 94,000 tourists to Danang and Quang Nam.

The city is expected to welcome 120 ships and 165,000 cruise tourists in 2019.

In November, Danang will organise a conference on cruise tourism development to introduce Danang Port’s potential and infrastructure as well as the city’s development plans for the future including a dedicated cruise port and terminal.
