Bangkok Airways buys Amadeus solution

-

SINGAPORE, 3 October 2018: Bangkok Airways is buying into the full suite of Amadeus’ Altéa passenger service system that claims to offer passengers a more consistent and personalised customer experience.

The Amadeus solutions focus on reservations, inventory, ticketing and departure control capabilities.

Bangkok Airways said it has chosen Amadeus’ Altéa suite to transform the airline’s core technology systems.

Deal done and dusted (from left): Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, president of Bangkok Airways; Cyril Tetaz, executive vice president, Airlines, Asia Pacific, Amadeus.

From the airline’s perspective Amadeus Altéa Suite should streamline and improve core processes including reservations, inventory, departure control and flight management while giving the carrier considerably more flexibility.

Promoted as ‘Asia’s Boutique Airline’, the airline faces a tough challenge to differentiate its product from that of regional low-cost airlines in a market environment where cheap fares win.

But it does make an effort to offer features not available its regional low-cost competitors such as a generous baggage allowance,  inflight meals and airport lounges for its economy class passengers, probably the airline’s most valuable service.

Its strong regional network has also made it a preferred partner with more than 26 airlines through codeshare agreements.

Amadeus Altéa Suite will help the airline to deliver a more consistent and personalised customer service, create new revenue streams and improve operational efficiency.Passengers should see an improved on-time performance and consistent, automatic application of customer preferences that have been previously identified by the passenger.More than two-thirds of Star Alliance airlines, three-quarters of Oneworld airlines and half of Skyteam airlines use Altéa.

As of the first half of 2018, more than 200 customers have contracts for one of the Amadeus Passenger Service Systems (Altéa or the low-cost version Navitaire New Skies).
