Webbed agents visit Korean show

SEOUL, 13 September 20128: WebBeds is backing the 4th edition of Seoul International Travel Mart that is currently underway this week inviting its travel agency clients in Asia-Pacific to attend the inbound travel show.

Attendance at SITM shows a strong turnout of travel agency executives from across the region including China.

Considered South Korea’s largest travel trade show, WebBeds was named the official B2B partner.

Organised by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Visit Korea Committee (VKC) and Korea Association of Travel Agents (KATA), SITM 2018 is hosting 400 international travel professionals from 50 countries.

They will conclude a series of pre-scheduled one-on-one appointments with approximately 1,000 South Korean tourism operators by the end of the week.

As part of its official B2B partnership with SITM, WebBeds has invited travel agents from several key markets, such as China, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia.

WebBeds Asia Pacific CEO, Daryl Lee, commented: “We are very proud to be the B2B partner and we encouraged our travel agency clients to attend to witness first-hand the exciting developments that are taking place across Korea.”

SITM 2018 convenes at an important time for South Korea, following the hosting of the Winter Olympics earlier this year.

It presents an invaluable opportunity to raise awareness about the country’s tourism products and to generate additional interest from key overseas markets, said Lee.

WebBeds’ regional presence in Asia’s travel trade scene helped to attract a B2B audience for the event, while also strengthening ties between international travel agents and South Korean travel suppliers.

Now in its fourth edition, SITM is the biggest international B2B travel expo in South Korea that has upgraded from just focusing on Seoul, to promoting travel to the entire country.

In addition to providing opportunities to meet with hundreds of South Korean travel suppliers and domestic organisations, SITM 2018 presents the country’s newest products and destinations through a full schedule of tourism presentations and familiarisation tours for hosted buyers.

South Korea welcomed 13.3 million international visitors in 2017, according to data from the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO). More than 80% of arrivals were from countries in East Asia and the Pacific, which demonstrates the importance of regional travel.

SITM 2018 is taking place at Grand Hilton Seoul Convention Centre until 14 September.

WebBeds operates a B2B travel business through Sunhotels, JacTravel and Totalstay (Global & Europe), FIT Ruums (Asia) and Lots of Hotels (Americas, Middle East and Africa).
