Top changes in Destination Asia

SINGAPORE, 2 August 2018: Destination Asia has named Matthew Smith as general manager of Destination Asia in Singapore, effective 1 August.

Smith will head the team in Singapore, backed by 18 years of experience in the travel industry.

Alongside taking over daily management operations, he will also drive new initiatives to develop meeting and events, luxury FIT travel and cruise business.

“Matthew will help strengthen the company’s management team as we continue to grow our operations in Asia,” said Destination Asia chief operating officer, Nicholas Mulley.

Smith succeeds Bob Guy who will now retire after eight years as managing director of Destination Asia Singapore. Guy set up the Singapore office in October 2010 alongside James Reed and Gill Guy, growing the company from an initial five staff to 34 travel specialists.

During his nearly four decades in Singapore, he has also served as board director of the Singapore Tourism Board as well as corporation member of the Sentosa Development Corporation. Guy will continue in his role as managing director of Destination Asia in Malaysia until the end of the 2018.
