PATA organises fairs in Cambodia

-

PHNOM PENH, 20 August 2018: The Pacific Asia Travel Association Cambodia Chapter and the Cambodia Tourism Federation are jointly promoting travel fairs to boost inbound travel during the low-season months in 2019.

Tagged “Biz Fair”, the travel trade events will be hosted in Siem Reap, 3 September and Phnom Penh, 5 September.

Around 70 companies will be represented at each venue with around 40 sourced from overseas markets mainly in ASEAN.

The sessions will adopt a table-top format for appointments between tour buyers and travel content providers from Cambodia.

Sellers based in Cambodia will pay USD450 for each fair if they are PATA chapter members, or USD600 for non-members.

International travel buyers hosted by the event organisers, will be given a USD150 fare allowance, free accommodation and registration at each event.

Pacific Asia Travel Association Cambodia Chapter chairman, Thourn Sinan, forwarded details to TTR Weekly saying the events would seek to promote travel to Cambodia during the low season months next year.

September is traditionally a low month for travel bookings to Cambodia, but by late October the peak season begins.

“We don’t get many tourists from April to September. This is the reason we decided to hold the fair in September,” Sinan explained.

According to a recent Khmer Times report, Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism reported 3 million international tourists visited the country during the first half of the year, an increase of 13%. The ministry forecasts 6.2 million foreign tourists this year, which would be a gain of 12% over 2017.
