Rose Garden Village remake

-

BANGKOK, 28 June 2018: Thailand’s iconic attraction the Rose Garden’s Thai Village will close 30 June for a six-month remake.

Tour operators who have been supporting the famous attraction for decades have been invited for a farewell party at the venue 30 June.

Known for decades as the Rose Garden Thai Village Show, the owning family rebranded it three years ago ‘The Thai Village at Sampran Riverside’.

Sampran Riverside has been home to the famous village show since 1962, surviving three generations of the family business. The extensive gardens and other attractions including villas and a hotel remain open; business as usual.

Typically, the attraction offered two shows daily lasting one hour and was recognised as a quick introduction to Thailand’s culture and festivals.

At the height of its popularity tickets sales for the show exceeded 1,000 a day and its daily gate performance was considered a benchmark illustrating the state of health of Bangkok’s tourism industry.

Notices of the closure were sent to tour operators who still support the attraction, which has witnessed a decline in ticket sales.

However, on its website Samphran Riverside posted a notice saying the “Thai Village is due to close for a complete renovation starting 1 July and ending 31 December 2018.”

The notice read: “Stay tuned for more updates when we open as ‘Patom Organic Village’ in January 2019.”

Sampran Riverside is located on a 70 acre plot by the Tachine river about 50 km from downtown Bangkok.
