Amadeus NDC recruits Qantas

-

SINGAPORE, 12 June 2018 – Following the launch of Amadeus’ NDC-X programme last February Amadeus has succeeded in getting Qantas on board that should drive progress with NDC and draw travel sellers.

Amadeus confirmed at the weekend that Qantas will now be one of the airlines to join its NDC-X programme.

Amadeus will connect with the Qantas Distribution Platform in order to offer NDC content to travel sellers mostly travel companies selling their content online to travel consumers.

This will allow travel sellers, mainly travel firms that have an online sales platform, to book NDC content for their customers.

As part of the longstanding partnership, Amadeus gains access to the Qantas Distribution Platform in order to provide travel sellers with all of the airline’s content and services that are bookable through the agents’ preferred channel.

“Our programme will enable airlines to sell their NDC offers to travel sellers around the world, through our NDC-enabled travel platform,” said Amadeus NDC-X programme vice president, Gianni Pisanello.

“The Amadeus Travel Platform is designed with both airline and travel sellers needs in mind and we are looking forward to making NDC content available within it… online travel bookings will be in production later this year, meaning that the full booking flow of ‘shop, order and pay’ will take place using the NDC standard.”

Amadeus and Qantas’ renewed their IT distribution partnership recently.

NDC or New Distribution Capability is a travel industry-supported programme launched by IATA for the development of a new XML-based data transmission standard (NDC Standard). The NDC Standard improves the capability of communications between airlines and travel agents and allows airline content retailing, beyond the basic booking and selling of fares.
