PHU QUOC, 4 May 2018: Dusit International, will soft open its first hotel in Vietnam, 22 May, on Phu Quoc island located off Vietnam’s southern coast.

The group confirmed, this week, the 108-room Dusit Princess Moonrise Beach Resort will open on the 20-km Bai Truong beach, sometimes known as Long Beach, about 8 km from the airport.

Last year, the Thai hotel group signed a franchise agreement with the resort’s owning company Linh Chi Limited Company headed by director, Do Van Chanh.

An emerging tourist destination, visited by cruise ships, the Gulf of Thailand island offers 30-day visa-free status for travellers who visit by ship or plane and have no plans to visit mainland Vietnam.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Tourism targets 500,000 foreign tourists to Phu Quoc Island this year.

The Dusit’s website posted a rate of USD 95, before tax and service, for a stay 26 May, but the hotel’s rates have yet to be posted on popular booking sites.  It will compete with Novotel that has rates of around USD139 and an MGallery by Sofitel at around USD179.
