BANGKOK, 4 April 2018: Bangkok Airways and Oman Air have signed a codeshare deal that will open more travel option through the two airlines to destinations across Thailand.

The deal came into effect 1 April and was signed by Bangkok Airways’ director route profitability and alliance, Pakorn Rattanarod and Oman Ai senior vice president network planning & revenue management Aboudy Nasser.

Under the agreement, Oman Air puts its “WY” designator code on Bangkok Airways flights, serving eight routes in Thailand from Bangkok.

This means travellers flying Oman Air to Bangkok, mainly from Europe and the Middle East, can be ticketed through to eight domestic destinations in Thailand with a change of plane to Bangkok Airways for the domestic sector.

The codeshare is valid for travel to Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi, Lampang, Trat, Sukhothai and Samui.

Oman Air will sell travel  to the eight destinations through its network of travel agencies and its booking website using its WY four-digit flight designator.

The  Oman-Bangkok Airways combined flights and fares are not showing  up on a Skyscanner, or Kayak, search for bookings in July for the route London to Chiang Rai.

The best offer is a codeshare deal between India’s Jetairways and Bangkok Airways priced at THB 28,430 with a change of planes in Bombay (Jetairways) and in Bangkok (PG)

A codeshare deal with Emirates offers a fare of THB 28,102 roundtrip London-Chiang Rai with a change of plane in Dubai (Emirates) and again in Bangkok (PG).

The flight time end-to-end is 22 hours and 35 minutes.
