Norwegian adjusts service charges

-

SINGAPORE, 3 April 2018: Norwegian Cruises increased its daily service charges for cruise customers by approximately 50 US cents per day, effective 1 April.

In an update to travel planners, the cruise line said the revision of Norwegian’s discretionary daily service charges would make it easier for guests to provide a gratuity to on-board staff.

Also effective 1 June, travel agents will receive the full value of a booking’s commission even when their clients redeem a Future Cruise Certificate.

The new daily service charge rates are:

Sky and Sun all–inclusive suites from USD 21.99 to USD 22.99

Sky and Sun all–inclusive from USD 18.99 to USD 19.99

Remainder of Fleet, Suites and The Haven – from USD 16.99 to USD 17.50

Remainder of Fleet from USD 13.99 to USD 14.50

Any passenger that has made a booking before 31 March, has the option of prepaying their service charges at the old rate if done prior to the departure date.

Guests with existing cruise reservations who have already prepaid their service charges at the current rate are not affected.

Service charges can be prepaid in the Vacation Summary section on My NCL.

They can be paid when the booking is made through a travel agency or at anytime online before the cruise departs.

If a cruise is cancelled the service charges are also refunded. There is also a mechanism to secure a refund of the service charge if a passenger has a genuine complaint that service was below standard during a cruise.

NCL says the service charge surcharge allows the company to distribute the gratuity across all crew members even if they do not have direct contact with guests.
