BANGKOK, 5 April 2018 – Dusit International will introduce ASAI Hotels to the market during the first quarter of 2019, one step below D2.
The company calls it an “affordable lifestyle brand for curious, millennial-minded travellers” but not budget accommodation. Rates will range from THB 1,700 to 1,900. The D2 brand tops at THB 3,000.
The first hotel carrying the ASAI label will be located in Chatuchak market district near the Skytrain station.
ASAI properties will have compact rooms (15 sqm), a large mixed-use communal space, including work space, a leisure area, and a restaurant.
Along with ASAI Chatuchak, five more properties are confirmed. They consist of three ASAI Hotels in Cebu, Philippines (Lapu-Lapu, Oslob, and Cebu downtown), a hotel in Yangon, Myanmar (Yankin Township) and a second hotel in Bangkok (Sathorn district). All five are due to open in 2019. Dusit targets 10 ASAI hotels in the pipeline by the end of this year.
Brand meaning
As for the meaning of ASAI to quote the group’s brochure, “ASAI in Thai means “to live. And we invite you to come live with us, like a local. It also means to “rely on”.
