Thai Lion Air rolls out 737 MAX 9

-

BANGKOK, 26 March 2018: Thai Lion Air is tweaking its summer timetable following the arrival of the newest Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft.

The airline has the distinction of being the first airline to operate the Boeing 737 MAX 9 version, effective 22 March.

The first Boeing 737 MAX 8 was delivered to Malindo Air last year.

The new aircraft can seat up to 220 passengers having five more rows than the 737 MAX 8.

The first flights with the new plane will depart from its home-base Bangkok Don Mueang airport 2 April to Chiang Mai, according to timetable information from AirlineRoute.

The aircraft will be used on the Bangkok Don Mueang to Guangzhou and Hat Yai routes effective 7 May. Other services will switch to the new aircraft including Jakarta in early June.

It will also be used for services to China, India and Bangladesh

“The 737 Max 9 is a perfect fit for our growing business in Thailand,” Thai Lion Air CEO and chairman Darsito Hendro Seputro was quoted last week in the airline’s news release. “The 737 has been the backbone of our business since we began and we will use the added capacity the airplane provides to expand our network and start additional routes to Bangladesh, China and India.”
