LANGLEY, UK, 21 February 2018: Travelport a global travel commerce platform, unveiled a product roadmap, Tuesday, to extend its content to airline customers using the International Air Transport Association (IATA) New Distribution Capability standard.
This will enable travel agency customers to access more content via Travelport’s platform to enable them to compete more robustly in the online marketplace.
Last December, Travelport was the first global distribution system to achieve IATA’s highest certification as an NDC Level 3 Aggregator.
The company is now incorporating NDC content within its product range for airlines and travel agencies.
They allow travel agencies to connect through Travelport’s platform in a single workflow combining traditional content and new NDC content.
Travelport plans to include NDC content initially through selected products such as an industrialised connection for airlines that connects via NDC-standard APIs.
it will also offer a point-of-sale companion application for travel agencies combining NDC-enabled content alongside the GDS. Smartpoint for ease of use alongside the existing processes and will be ready in the second half of 2018
A fully integrated search, book and manage function is in the pipeline, combining NDC-connected content and GDS content in the same workflow. It will be offered to travel agency customers on the latest Travelport solutions including Travelport’s next generation API Trip Services
Travelport already connects to 24 airlines through APIs and expects to announce the first of many NDC-enabled airline partnerships very soon.
NDC integration is being developed in collaboration with a select group of agents and airlines that are providing feedback.
