PHUKET, 6 February 2018: Organisers of the Phuket Laguna Triathlon have shifted the race dates to avoid a conflict with other events on the popular tourist island.
In a letter to participants and media, Monday, the organisers confirmed the two-day event will now be hosted 17 to 18 November, a week ahead of the former dates 24 to 25 November.
The triathlon now in its 25th year is expected to attract a record turn out. This year there are three races over the two-day event.
The 2nd Phuket Laguna Charity Fun Run will take place on the afternoon Saturday 17 November. It will consist of a 5km and 10km run and will also introduce a 2km distance for junior runners.
The 25th Phuket Laguna Triathlon is scheduled for Sunday 18 November, covering the signature race distance of 1.8km (swim), 50km (bike) and 12km (run).
For the first time a third event, the inaugural Phuket Laguna ‘25 for 25’ Sprint, will also take place, 18 November, with a sprint distance of 25km swim, bike and run combined.
An early bird registration fee is available until 5 March.
Athletes registered for the 25th Laguna Phuket Triathlon, who are 25 years old in 2018 (born 1 January – 31 December 1993), also get an additional 5% discount on the entry fee.
