Travelodge targets hotels in Indonesia

-

SINGAPORE 5 January 2018:  Travelodge Hotels Asia will open its first Travelodge hotel in Indonesia, located in the centre of Batam’s commercial area.

The 249-room was previously branded Novotel Batam until 1 January when Travelodge took over.

Travelodge Batam is a five-minute taxi drive from shopping malls such as Nagoya Hills Mall and Harbour Bay Mall, as well as the Harbour Bay International Ferry Terminal.

The ferry transfer from Singapore takes 45 minutes.

Batam, the third-busiest port of entry in Indonesia after Bali and Jakarta, and a popular getaway destination offering water sports and golf courses.

To mark the change in management to Travelodge the group is offering a 15% discount on all room bookings through to 31 December 2018.

Members of the Travelodge loyalty programme will enjoy an additional 10% off, and other benefits, including early check-in and late check-out.

Travelodge Hotels Asia chairman, Stephen Burt commented: “We are delighted to welcome Travelodge Batam to our fast-growing network of Travelodge hotels in Asia. This comes shortly after the opening of two Travelodge hotels in Hong Kong (Travelodge Kowloon in February 2017 and Travelodge Central, Hollywood Road in September 2017) Travelodge Pattaya in July 2017 and Travelodge Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 in November 2017).”

Indonesia is endeavouring to turn tourism into the largest source of foreign exchange earnings, contributing 15% of GDP.

Foreign tourist arrivals could double to 20 million by 2019, and against this backdrop the hotel group is targeting properties  in key gateway destinations, such as Bali, Jakarta, Surabaya and Yogyakarta.
