Myanmar to start annual travel show

-

YANGON, 24 January 2018: A brand new travel show will be launched to promote both inbound and outbound travel from Myanmar this July.

Thailand-based ICVeX a subsidiary of Index Creative Village PCL is organising the new show.

The company has been organising shows in Myanmar since 2014 including Myanmar Build & Decor, Myanmar FoodBev and Myanmar Retail Sourcing Expo.

It has also managed exhibitions in Thailand such as  Bangkok International Grand Motor Sale (BIG Motor Sale) 2015-2016, ITAX Marketplace 2016 and Ultrawealth Expo 2017.

Its latest venture, Myanmar International Tourism Expo will be held 20 to 22 July at Tatmadaw Exhibition Hall, Yangon, Myanmar.

The objective is create a business and networking  platform for foreign tourism organisations to source Myanmar partners to grow the inbound  travel market and to provide travel consumers in Myanmar with opportunities to book overseas travel, the company explained.

According to reports in local media the organisers are counting on 100 international travel companies  to launch the annual event, mainly sourced from ASEAN’s 10 member countries.

“We haven’t been able to hold an international tourism exhibition until now because we lacked organisers skilled in the meetings, incentives, conferences and events market. That is why we are welcoming private sector participation in this event,” U Thet Lwin Toh, chairman of the Union of Myanmar Travel Association told the local press.

The expo will feature exhibits on business travel, medical tourism, weddings and education tourism.

According to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, around 3.5 million tourists visited Myanmar in 2018.
