BANGKOK, 18 January 2018: Thailand’s airline passengers will be happy with the Airports of Thailand’s reassurance that airport taxes, both international and domestic, will remain unchanged in 2018.
Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited confirmed Wednesday that its Passenger Service Charge (PSC) collected at six airports under its management will remain THB700 for international s and THB100 for domestic departures.
AOT has been heavily criticised the high cost of snacks and drinks at its six airports. A bottle of drinking water can cost up to five times the price charged at retail outlets elsewhere.
There were also online news reports that suggested the AOT was about to increase passenger service charges that it robustly denied.
AOT’s President Jintana Sirisamaporn said there were no plans to raise the domestic departure tax, or PSC, at Don Mueang International Airport or any of its six managed airports from THB 100 Baht to THB 300.
AOT adjusted its PSC charges when it opened Suvarnabhumi Airport service in 2006. No proposals have been made to the Civil Aviation Board to increase the fees.
Aviation law and ministry regulations require airport administrators to use the tax to directly improve facilities and the maintenance of airport safety. AOT noted that the fees partly fund projects to increase passenger capacity at airport terminals at all of its six airports.
