AirAsia X launches Jeju flight

JEJU, 13 DECEMBER 2017 –AirAsia X has launched flights to the South Korean island of Jeju, Tuesday.

Flight D7 501 on an Airbus A330-300 landed at Jeju International Airport, Tuesday, making AirAsia X, the only airline with direct connections between Kuala Lumpur and the popular tourist largest island off the coast of the Korean Peninsula.

Jeju is the airline’s third destination in South Korea after Seoul (Incheon) and Busan.

The four times weekly services between Kuala Lumpur and Jeju will also strengthen the AirAsia Group’s position in South Korea by having a total of 75 weekly flights and 1,183,468 seats on sale annually.

AirAsia X is offering promotional all-in-fares from MYR249* one-way on standard seats and available for bookings on airasia.com until 19 December  for travel 16 December  to 27 October 2018.

Commenting on the new route, AirAsia X Malaysia, chairman Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz said: “This direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Jeju has the potential of generating 156,000 trips a year from Kuala Lumpur and Jeju.”

Jeju is a volcanic island located 64 km south of the Korean Peninsula. It is the country’s most popular holiday island and home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes” which consists of Mount Halla, the highest mountain in South Korea and a dormant volcano; Geomunoreum lava tubes and the dramatic landscape of Seongsan Ilchulbong tuff cone.
