BANGKOK, 1 November 2017: Vietnam Airlines signed off on a code-share agreement with Bangkok Airways, last week, that should build commercial sales between the two airlines on specified routes.
Vietnam Airline customers will be able to fly to Bangkok and connect with Bangkok Airways’ domestic flights ticketed through on Vietnam Airlines.
The formula works well with Bangkok Airways, which currently has codeshare deals with 24 foreign airlines and on some routes the codeshare contribution represents the majority of flight bookings.
It will include popular tourist routes such as Bangkok-Samui, Bangkok-Phuket, Bangkok-Krabi, Bangkok-Chiang Mai, Bangkok-Chiang Rai and Bangkok- Danang (Vietnam).
In return Bangkok Airways passengers have access to flights operated by Vietnam Airlines on the Bangkok-Ho Chi Minh and Bangkok-Hanoi routes.
They can also buy travel beyond Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Danang to domestic destinations served by Vietnam Airlines on a single travel document.
“This code-share agreement allows Bangkok Airways’ passengers a convenient and seamless access to more destinations in Vietnam. Likewise, Vietnam Airlines’ passengers are able to travel to well-known destinations in Thailand through our network.” said Bangkok Airways’ president, Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth.
Vietnam Airlines president and CEO, Duong Tri Thanh added: “We are very happy to establish a codeshare partnership with Bangkok Airways … We hope the newly launched service will extend our network beyond Bangkok and offer a wider range of attractive options for customers to fly to popular travel destinations.”
