Loong heads for Nha Trang

HANOI, 29 November 2017: A Chinese airline specialising in tour package travel, Loong Airlines, will launch a new route to Vietnam on Wednesday.

The flight will originate in Beijing with a stop in Xi’an before flying to Cam Ranh International Airport 30 km from Nha Trang.

The flight using an Airbus 320 will cater to Chinese holiday makers who travel on pre-paid packages sold by Chinese tour operators.

While designated as a scheduled airline service, there are no local sales channels in Vietnam or plans to sell tickets locally. Details of the timetable, effective to the end of the year, were released by AirlineRoute, last week.

Around 19 airlines currently serve Cam Ranh International Airport, in Khanh Hoa province, of which 10 are Chinese airlines catering to the package tour holiday market.

Nha Trang is the main attraction both the city and beach resorts. Last year the airport handled around 4.8 million passengers.
