Vietjet inks deal with Qatar Airways

HO CHI MINH CITY, 17 October 2017: Vietjet and Qatar Airways have entered into a two-phase interline partnership that kicked off in September by allowing Qatar Airways’ passengers to travel to and from points in Vietnam and Taiwan using connecting services on Vietjet.

The second phase will extend the interline partnership to allow Vietjet’s passengers to connect with Qatar flights to  more than 150 points, worldwide, served by Qatar Airways using a single reservation across both of the airlines’ networks.

It will include passengers flying domestic services in Vietnam on Vietjet to connect with Qatar Airways’ services to Doha out of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Eventually it could extend to Vietjet flights serving Bangkok and Singapore where passengers could connect with Qatar Airways’ flights to Doha.

Qatar Airways group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker, said: “We are delighted to welcome Vietjet as an interline partner as it will allow us to provide a more seamless experience for our passengers.

“The new agreement with Vietjet will offer our passengers even more choice, providing them an easy connection in Ho Chi Minh, or Hanoi, before transferring to their Qatar Airways flights.”

Qatar Airways is commencing two nonstop services connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with Doha with double daily flights (Hanoi) and 10 weekly flights (HCMC).

Earlier, Vietjet and Japan Airlines agreed to codeshare/interline on their flights between Japan and Vietnam, including domestic services and on flights between Vietnam and other Asian countries. The two carriers also cooperate in various areas including a frequent flier partnership.
